In this clip I showcase the new Maschine Studio and Moog Sub Phatty while creating a mid-tempo, R&B composition. I am really impressed with the new Maschine and Maschine 2 software. Enjoy!

Serato Discontinues Scratch Live in Focus Towards Serato DJ
Laptop DJ heavyweights Serato launched Serato Scratch Live SSL over a decade ago, with it spearheading much of contemporary DJ’s set-up. The latest news from Serato announces that it’ll no longer provide updates to SSL, a software synonymous for its abilities to mix via the computer with loops and perks as a virtual DJ tool. Blending attributes from SSL with Serato DJ in the last few years has been difficult, and Serato has decided to let go of SSL in focus of Serato DJ — which in turn will incorporate SSL’s DVS technology, allowing both hands-on DJing and synched beat-matching, in addition to a more clean-cut interface. Serato will continue to provided technical support for SSL until 2015, while users will be able to upgrade to Serato DJ for free.

Dopeness: New Era x Andy Warhol Cap Collection
Just in time for summer, New Era have partnered up with The Andy Warhol Foundation to deliver a collection of snapback and fitted caps featuring different variations of Warhol’s psychedelic, swirly, camouflage pattern. On the underside of each brim is an imprint that reads, “THIS PHOTOGRAPH MAY NOT BE-ETC,” alongside the signature of the pop artist himself. Furthermore, each sweatband is inscribed with a different Andy Warhol quote. The collection will be available at select New Era retailers in July, priced at $35-40 USD.

Classic Albums: Prince “1999”
One of the most important albums to come out 30 years ago. I remember my Mom buying this album from Soundwaves. Prince is her favorite artist. This album changed my life. Thank you Prince, Lisa Coleman, Brown Marc, Bobby Z., and Dr. Fink (the first incarnation of The Revolution. It’s even spelled backwards on the “I” of his name.) Prince was a very well planned artist. He absolutely knew what was coming next. Purple Rain was being conceived in the infamous purple notebook during this era and a lot of the songs for the movie were already created. 1999, the prelude to Purple Rain.
