Without any fanfare or preliminary publicity, Volkswagen debuted its Buggy Up! concept at theFrankfurt Motor Show. Modeled after fiberglass Meyers Manx dune buggies first popularized in the 1960s, VW’s two-seater is made of lightweight steel with a reinforced underbody, powered by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine. Clearly built for fun, the vehicle lacks doors or side windows but does come with a removable fabric roof and features waterproof everything, from its neoprene-covered seats to iPod-powered infotainment system. Unfortunately, no word on whether the car will ever see production.
